Arthur Amys called the meeting to order. All board members were present. Arthur Amys made a motion to approve the May 10th, 2018 regular meeting minutes and the Board of Review minutes, Dennis Hill seconded. Motion carried.
Comprehensive Plan Committee – No Report Gary Kane will call members to elect a new Chairperson.
Lundeen Railroad crossing is closed, and CN is having issues with us not getting the crossings signs. Mark Liebaert and Gary Kane have concerns about the visibility at the Sam Anderson Crossing with a train parked there so we have requested the to re-evaluate the signage and we feel they need to put crossing arms with the standard flashing lights, they have proposed a set of solar powered stop signs that would be motion activated. Arthur Amys made a motion to allow Mark Liebaert to have the authority to negotiate with the Railroad. Dennis Hill seconded. Motion carried.
Tom Kolodziej from Iron River Sand and Gravel was present to discuss the gravel pit on County Rd. P. he will start excavating and crushing sometime this summer.
Arthur Amys made a motion to approve the liquor license and 6 server licenses for Riverside Bar & Grill, Dennis Hill seconded. Motion Carried
Arthur Amys made a motion to approve the liquor License and 5 server licenses for Middle River Tavern, Mark Liebaert seconded. Motion carried.
Arthur Amys made a motion to approve the liquor license and 5 server licenses for the Gravel Pit Tavern, Mark Liebaert seconded. Motion carried.
Mark Liebaert made a motion to allow Gary Kane to issue any additional sever licenses throughout the licensing year, Arthur Amys seconded. Motion carried.
Chuck Rupar, Rhim Kenworth and Tom Schartner of Monroe Truck Equipment were present to provide quotes for the new dump truck. Rhim with equipment was $ 180,056, Boyer was 170,344. Arthur Amys made a motion to go with the truck from Rhim. Mark Liebaert seconded. Motion carried.
Gary Kane and Donald Botten will go though the specs line by line to make sure we are getting the right equipment as hopefully this will be a truck that lasts as long as the last one (24 years).
Arthur Amys made a motion to not give the $500 donation requested by Milt Olson for the Poplar Ball Fields. Mark Liebaert seconded. Motion Carried
Douglas County, The Counties finances are in good condition, the wage study is complete, and the county is on average with most categories
Discussion also took place on the need to replace a cross culvert on the Bayfield Rd it is a 48” and will cost approximately $2400 plus the install as it is to deep for our backhoe.
There is a problem with the septic at the old Glanville farm it is running into the ditch an creating problems in the winter.
